About The Buffington Room

This room at our Taneytown, MD hotel was named after Carroll County’s most celebrated Civil War hero, Lt. John E. Buffington of Co. C, 6th Maryland Infantry (1839-1915). He received the Congressional Medal of Honor as one of the bravest soldiers in the Army of the Potomac. He is buried at the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Taneytown.

With a queen canopy feather bed and an oversized handicapped accessible shower, it caters to the needs of all guests, while the private sitting porch facing the mansion offers a peaceful retreat. As a connecting room to The Warren, it provides flexible accommodation options. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the common areas of the Birnie House, where the spacious living and dining areas invite relaxation and social engagement.
